The Preakness

The 2026 Preakness Stakes will take place at Laurel Park as the legendary Pimlico Race Course is being renovated and is the second race of the famous Triple Crown. The Preakness Stakes will celebrate their 151st anniversary running of this incredible horse race. In 1870, the first Preakness was held at the opening of the Pimlico Race Course. Since then, it has grown to become one of the races in the coveted Triple Crown of Racing. The winning horse in the Preakness will be draped in a blanket of Black-Eyed Susan flowers, a tradition since 1940. The race has been run on the third Saturday in May since the 1930's.
