Newly Built US Bank Stadium

Prepare to experience Super Bowl 52 at the state of the art US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, MN. This facility began its construction in December of 2013 and took until July 2016 for its grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony. The stadium was constructed as the replacement for the city’s old Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome, which was demolished to allow for US Bank Stadium’s construction. Notable future events to be hosted at US Bank Stadium include Super Bowl 52 on Feb. 4, 2018, the 2019 Men’s NCAA Final Four, and ESPN X Games!

The overall cost of construction cost of the stadium was over 1.1 billion dollars, easily making the facility one of the NFL’s most expensive fixed roof stadiums. The stadium also includes many unique features that can be appreciated by its visitors. The building itself can hold upwards of 70,000 occupants and is designed to host multiple sports events from football, to basketball, and even soccer.

US Bank Stadium has also already hosted numerous concerts and other events. Notable musicians who have performed at the stadium include Coldplay, Luke Bryan, and Metallica. The stadium is also home of the Minnesota Vikings.

The most notable part of the stadium is the large amount of glass used throughout the stadium, which has led to some dubbing the stadium as the “glass cathedral.” The glass exterior of the stadium allows for a great deal of natural light to illuminate the building and the roof of the building utilizes an advanced “ETFE” material on the roof to allow sunlight to cascade down onto the field of play. Another unique lighting feature is the stadium’s dynamic LED lighting system that adjusts color temperature actively to create certain lighting atmospheres for shows or performances.

US Bank Stadium is a 7-level facility with over 2,000 HDTVs and two large videoboards in each endzone. As well, features an enhance Wi-Fi network to handle the largest of crowds and has widened concourses to allow for easier flow of fans through the stadium. Be sure to also view the Vikings “Legacy Ship” outside of the stadium to see a 160-foot long Viking galley display over 14,000 legacy bricks of notable Vikings moments and fans.
