2013 Wimbledon Tennis Championships - June 24-July 7, 2013
The 2013 Wimbledon Tennis Championships will take place at the All England Club in a suburb of London - Wimbledon, England. The tournament is the oldest tennis tournament in the world. Wimbledon is played on grass and is part of the four major tennis tournaments of the tennis season known as the Tennis Grand Slam. The other tournaments that are part of the Grand Slam year are the Australian Open, played in Melbourne, Australia on hard court, the French Open, played in Paris, France on clay and the US Open Tennis Tournament, played in New York on hard court. In 2009, Wimbledon's Centre Court added a retractable roof to the venue. The roof was built after years of rain delays plagued the tournaments progress and caused considerable television broadcast problems. The All England Club is easily accessible by the London Transit System, commonly known as "The Tube". Wimbledon Ticket Holders can expect a 35-45 minute train ride followed by a short walk during The Tournament. Remember, Wimbledon has a strict dress code for both spectators and players. Spectators often were hats, gentlemen were jackets, and all the players must wear white while on the court. There are two types of Official VIP Hospitality available at the All England Club during Wimbledon 2013. The Wimbledon Experience Club is a private air conditioning club with a garden area & televisions to keep guests informed of play. Admission to the Wimbledon Experience is included in all of Sports Traveler's Wimbledon Opening Rounds Packages and Tours. The Wimbledon Experience dining options include complimentary tea, coffee and Danish pastries, Buffet lunch on both days to include soft drinks and dessert. The Gatsby Club is included in all of Sports Traveler's Wimbledon Semi Final and Final Round Packages and Tours. Admission to the Gatsby Club during the 2011 Wimbledon Tournament includes including a 3-choice, 3-course menu designed by Michelin star chef Albert Roux, with a choice of specially selected wines, traditional Wimbledon afternoon tea and a complimentary bar, including champagne throughout the day. |
