2014 BCS College Football National Championship Game -

The Rose Bowl (stadium) is located in Pasadena, CA and is a legendary venue. The Rose Bowl is as much a part of American history as it is a part of sports history. The Rose Bowl stadium itself has been around since 1922 and has hosted the Rose Bowl game since that time.

Along with the Rose Bowl, this stadium has hosted Olympic events, FIFA World Cup Final matches, BCS Championships, the Super Bowl, the L.A. Galaxy soccer team, and it has been the home of the UCLA Bruins since 1982. The maximum seating capacity of the Rose Bowl is just over 94,000 and the record attendance is 106,869.

This will be the third time that the Rose Bowl has hosted the BCS National Championship game. The first two occasions were hosted by the Rose Bowl game itself. This was before the BCS Championship game was made separate from the 4 alternating bowl games in the Orange Bowl, Rose Bowl, Fiesta Bowl, and Sugar Bowl. The last BCS National Championship game in the Rose Bowl was held on January 7, 2010 when the Alabama Crimson Tide defeated the Texas Longhorns by a score of 37-21. The other two championship games were held in 2002 and 2006. In 2002, the Miami Hurricanes defeated the Nebraska Cornhuskers 37-14 to claim the first BCS Championship at the Rose Bow.

The 2006 Rose Bowl might be the best bowl game in college football history. Vince Young and the Texas Longhorns battled the USC Trojans in a clash of the titans. The game was a perfect combination of talent and clutch play. Vince Young scrambling in for the game winning touchdown with only seconds remaining will be a lasting image on the college football landscape. The 2014 BCS National Championship will also mark the end for the BCS. For better or worse, the Rose Bowl will be the final resting place for the Bowl Championship Series.
